Photo Assisting in Vegas

I wrapped my arm around Shanda and braced myself. We were both hanging off the side of a small speed boat on a manmade lake outside of Vegas. It was day two of shooting apparel for Downeast and I was just one step ahead of Shanda’s every move, which was my job. I was photo assisting. The boat we rented fit eight of us along with our viewing computer, around ten outfits, a changing station, accessories, reflectors, lencses, snacks, and a twenty foot tether cable. You may be thinking this was a yacht. Ha! I assure you it wasn’t. The boat must have been fifteen feet long. So there was a lot of shuffling of bags and people as well as untangling the tether cable . Between angles we’d set up the changing station for the models and shift everyone to one area for a clear view, and once again untangle the cable. I’ll never forget the marketing director laying on the floor of the boat while driving, forehead popping up to make sure we didn’t hit anything. Shanda got some amazing shots, some hanging off the edge of the boat while I held on to her jean loop for dear life. The whole shoot was hilarious and we all had a good time experiencing the “IG versus reality” moments. I really loved getting to know my coworkers outside of the office. We all said it was the dream team and I was grateful to be a part of it.
